Ocean Lakes Family Campground's All Star Golf Car Show all started in October 2005.
The concept for the show was inspired by no other than the owners themselves, Nelson
and Mary Emily Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson have quite the collection of customized
golf cars that you can see on a regular basis just by driving through the campground.
On any given day, you can see Mr. Jackson drive by on his old time Horse buggy golf
car or Mrs. Jackson in her Model T golf
car. Because of this, the All Star Golf Car Show was born to display the
many customized cars that our guest bring to the campground every year.
Show participation has almost doubled since its first year, having nearly 45 participants
entered in last year's show. During the show, all entries are split into three categories
which include: Customized Lifted, Custom Body, and Traditional Style. Each category
has first, second, and third place winners. We also give awards to the Best Paint
overall as well as a Fan Favorite winner. Each winner is rewarded with a certificate
as well as a pre selected prize. The show also offers a chance for all participants
to win door prizes that have a total prize value of close to $3000. Some prizes
included a Marine Clarion Radio, a set of wheels and tires, titanium locking dash,
and many more! All prizes are donated by vendors and participating Campground departments.
The majority of our participants join us from the East Coast, many from the North
and South Carolina areas; however, we also have some come as far north as Connecticut
and as far south as Georgia. From our 2005 show to our 2006 show we have had 10
repeat guests. Our entries don't have to win their category in order to walk out
a winner. All participants receive a goody bag that includes items like discount
coupons to the golf car service department and the RV center, food voucher, and
an All Star Golf Car Show T-Shirt and more!
The Ocean Lakes Golf Car Sales and Service department
has also felt the impact from the increasing rave of the "must have" customized
golf car. The Service Department has five year-round, full time mechanics, as well
as two seasonal mechanics. On average, our mechanics will custom build about three
golf cars a month for our guests to match their specifications. Therefore, our accessories
inventory has increase tremendously within the last couple years.
Overall, the All Star Golf Show has been a huge success in the past and shows to
continue to grow throughout the years. With the increasing demand for customized
