Safety Rules to Remember

1. Learn to swim.  It's Fun!
2. Check with the lifeguard before entering the water.
3. Swim near a lifeguard.
4. Never swim alone.
5. Join a Junior Lifeguard Program.
6. Never dive head first into unknown waters or into shallow breaking waves.
7. Don't mix alcohol with swimming.
8. Protect yourself from the sun.  Use sunscreen.


Horry County Beach Ordinances

5-5  Littering is prohibited

5-8  Obstruction of Lifeguard's view is prohibited (Personal Umbrellas must be 10 feet behind lifeguard stand)

5-13  Glass containers are prohibited

5-15 Boat & Jet skis shall be 400 feet from shore

Revisions

13 - All floating devices must be fabric covered with 360 degrees of rope

15 - No animals are allowed on the beach between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm from May 15 until September 15th. (This includes the beach in front of Ocean Lakes and part of Lakewood. See penalties here.)

Additions

4 - Use of bicycles, tricycles or similar type vehicle will be prohibited on the beach from the hours of 10 am until 3 pm from June 1st until September 1st

Rental Policies:  For your safety and the safety of others

1. Please do not move the umbrella
2. Please do not sit on the foot rest part of the chair
3. Please ask your lifeguard for assistance
4. All rentals must receive a receipt.  If not, call (843)238-5453.
